Being of Service in the NSC
Service positions in CoDA are vital because they help create a structure of accountability, connection, and continuity within the fellowship. At national level, within the National Service Committee (NSC) they are essential to the long term health, growth, and integrity of the fellowship. These roles support the broader infrastructure that allows CoDA to function across regions, maintain consistent traditions, and provide resources for individual groups and members. National service ensures that CoDA literature, public outreach, legal and financial responsibilities, and fellowship-wide events are carried out in alignment with CoDA's Twelve Traditions and Twelve Service Concepts.
By serving at this level, trusted servants help uphold the foundation that enables CoDA to remain a unified and accessible program for people both nationally and worldwide seeking recovery from codependence.
Service supports the spiritual principle of giving back. CoDA emphasizes that recovery deepens when members share their experience, strength, and hope with others. Engaging in service is one way to do that. It fosters a sense of belonging and purpose and allows members to step out of isolation, something many struggle with due to codependent patterns. It also helps sustain the fellowship so that newcomers have a safe and consistent place to begin their own healing journeys. In essence, service in CoDA is both an act of personal growth and a contribution to collective healing.
If you would like more information on being of service or have any questions, please reach out at communications@codauk.org.
